Ports & Pathways

Where Land Meets Water, and Logistics Begin

At Tutàn Rural Services, every shipment starts with a shoreline. Through our trusted partner, Alaska Logistics, we operate from strategic ports across the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. These launch points are more than just docks—they're lifelines to communities that can’t be reached by road. Below, you’ll find the key ports that power our mission.

Port of Tacoma

The Port of Tacoma is one of the busiest deep-water ports on the West Coast, handling over 70% of all marine freight bound for Alaska. With unmatched rail and highway connectivity, it's the beating heart of our logistics chain.

From our dedicated staging center just minutes from the terminal, Alaska Logistics coordinates:

  • Seasonal barge and container shipments to Western Alaska

  • Consolidation of freight from domestic and international suppliers

  • Load-outs of modular homes, fuel, heavy equipment, and infrastructure materials

  • Streamlined deliveries direct to villages, bypassing Anchorage for speed and cost-efficiency

Port of Seward

Seward is our deep-water link to Southcentral Alaska, offering direct rail-to-marine integration. At the Seward Freight Dock, Alaska Logistics stages barge shipments bound for Nome, Bethel, Dillingham, and beyond.

What makes Seward strategic:

  • Seamless freight transloading between rail, truck, and marine

  • Seasonal barge service to Western Alaska

  • Ideal for modular housing, heavy equipment, and village-bound freight

  • Complements our Tacoma operations with flexible Northern routing

Port of Nome

Nome isn’t just a destination—it’s a launchpad to some of Alaska’s most remote communities. For over 23 years, Alaska Logistics has operated here to reach villages without docks, roads, or runways.

Nome Operations Include:

  • Seasonal Barge Deliveries from Tacoma to Nome and outlying communities

  • Lightering & Beach Landings using shallow-draft vessels for shore access

  • Construction Support including modular housing, tribal and state infrastructure delivery

  • Fuel & Emergency Logistics during the limited ice-free season
